The ministry began very simply with evening visits to a high prostitution area in Tegucigalpa, praiseHonduras where coffee and truths about freedom in Jesus were shared while sitting together on the curbside.   Once the women began to trust Christ with their lives, it became clear that they needed help finding jobs which would allow them to work with dignity and integrity.  Out of that need was born the sewing workshop of Jericho.  The “rescued women” were discipled in the ministry and learned job skills while participating in the rescue of their friends still trapped in prostitution.    Later the desire to reach their children became the impetus for starting our school as well as the DAR program which provides full time care for children who are at high risk for entering a lifestyle of prostitution.

The women and children live in Jericho Villa near Danli which serves as the first phase in their discipleship and rehabilitation. There they receive vocational training (baking, sewing, knitting, agriculture), formal education, and learn to live in the Truth by exchanging the TrutBetsy and Indirah of the Word of God for the lies of the enemy. After a period of time they move back to the city and participate in the second phase of their rehabilitation at Jericho House. There they will be able to use the skills they learned in the country and by God’s grace will continue to grow in Christ to share with others trapped in lifestyles of addiction and degradation.

This year our goal is to minister to 100 children in our Jericho Kid’s Ministry and to reopen the women’s sewing workshop to provide outreach to the women who do not wish to relocate to the country with their children.
